IotaIota Privacy Policy

IotaIota: Learn Biblical Greek, for iPhone. Last updated: October 18, 2026.

In short
  • IotaIota has no accounts and no sign-up.
  • Your study progress lives on your iPhone and in your private iCloud. We cannot read it.
  • Community is optional. If you join or create a group, your group sees an anonymous alias (such as "Student 4821"), your weekly XP, streak, words mastered and chapter. Your name appears only if you turn on a public profile. You can delete all of it from the app.
  • Anonymous usage analytics (PostHog, EU servers) help us improve the app. You can turn them off.
  • Only if you agree, we measure which ad brought you (AppsFlyer). What you study is never shared.
  • Apple charges your subscription and RevenueCat manages it with an anonymous identifier.
  • We do not sell your data.

1. Who is responsible

The data controller is Jose David Vázquez, the developer of IotaIota. For any privacy question, write to contacto@distomosmakhaira.com.

2. Your study data (private iCloud)

IotaIota stores this data on your iPhone and, if iCloud is on, in the private database of your iCloud account, to sync it across your devices:

That database is yours: Apple manages it with your Apple ID and we have no access to it. Apple processes it under its own privacy policy.

The daily reminder, the notice that your free trial ends in 2 days and the app lock notice are local notifications: your own iPhone schedules them, without going through any server of ours.

3. Community (CloudKit public database)

Community is optional and nothing is published until you create or join a group. Before that, IotaIota asks you to accept the Community rules. Community data is stored by Apple in the public database of IotaIota's iCloud container. Other IotaIota users can read it, and we can see it to moderate it.

What is published

Your profile is identified by an identifier that Apple creates for your iCloud account inside IotaIota only. It does not reveal your Apple ID, your email or your real name, and it cannot be used to identify you in other apps. Members of your groups never see your answers or the words you study.

Public names and group names pass a word filter. If you block someone, you stop seeing them right away. We review reports within 24 hours and may hide profiles, groups or memberships that break the rules.

How to delete it

The legal basis is the performance of the service you ask for when you use Community (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for moderation and reports, our legitimate interest in keeping Community safe (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Locking apps with Screen Time

If you turn on "Lock apps until I review", IotaIota uses Apple's Screen Time features (Family Controls). Your choice of apps that never lock, the start time, the number of words to unlock and the lock itself stay on your iPhone. iOS only gives IotaIota opaque identifiers: IotaIota cannot see which apps you have or how much you use them, and sends none of this anywhere.

5. Subscription (Apple and RevenueCat)

Apple charges the subscription; we do not see your name, Apple ID or payment details. To know whether your subscription is active we use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA), which processes an anonymous identifier created by the app, your IotaIota purchase history (product, dates, price, trial period, renewals and cancellations), your store country and technical device and app data (model, OS version, language).

The legal basis is the performance of the subscription contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). If you accepted ad measurement, RevenueCat also receives the AppsFlyer identifier, so purchases can be attributed to the campaign you came from (see section 7).

6. Anonymous analytics (PostHog)

To improve the app we count anonymously how it is used: which introduction steps are completed, study sessions with their counts (exercises, correct answers, XP), daily goals reached, milestones of words mastered, when the subscription screen is shown, the app opening and closing, the app language, whether you are on a trial, paying or on the free plan, and your streak as a broad range (0, 1 to 3, 4 to 7, 8 to 30, over 30 days).

We do this with PostHog (PostHog, Inc.), on its European Union servers, with IP addresses discarded. We do not build a profile of you: there is only a random installation identifier, not tied to your name, Apple ID, email or Community profile. There is no session recording and no automatic capture of taps or screens. We never send which words you study, your answers, your group names or anything you write.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can turn it off at any time in IotaIota, Settings, Improve IotaIota, Anonymous analytics.

7. Ad measurement (only with your consent)

IotaIota is promoted with ads, for example on Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and TikTok. To know which ads work, and only if you accept on the screen "Can you help us reach more students?", we use AppsFlyer (AppsFlyer Ltd., Israel, and its affiliates) as our measurement provider.

What is shared

Studying biblical Greek could suggest religious beliefs. That is why no event says what you study, and the list above is closed.

With whom

AppsFlyer uses this data to attribute your install and purchases to a campaign, and shares it, as needed for that attribution and to optimize ads, with the platforms where we advertise IotaIota (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. and TikTok Technology Ltd., among others). Each of them also processes it under its own privacy policy.

Legal basis and how to withdraw

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time in IotaIota, Settings, Ads, "Measure which ad brought me here", and the tracking permission in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking. If you do not accept, IotaIota works exactly the same.

SKAdNetwork

Even if you do not accept, iOS may tell ad networks and AppsFlyer, in aggregate and without identifying you, that an install came from a campaign (Apple's SKAdNetwork). Apple runs this mechanism and it does not let us know who you are.

RevenueCatManage the subscriptionAlways

9. Transfers outside the European Economic Area

Some providers process data outside the EEA, for example in the United States or Israel. They do so with the safeguards required by the GDPR: European Commission adequacy decisions (such as the one for Israel, or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for certified companies) or standard contractual clauses.

10. How long data is kept

11. Your rights

You can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or objection, and withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to contacto@distomosmakhaira.com. Since IotaIota has no accounts, include the Support ID shown in IotaIota, Settings, near the end of the list: it lets us find your subscription and measurement data.

If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or the data protection authority of your country.

12. Children

IotaIota is not directed to children under 14. If you are under that age, do not use Community or accept ad measurement without permission from a parent or guardian.

13. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If the change affects what you accepted on the ad measurement screen, IotaIota will ask you again.

Nosotros no podemos leerlo.
  • No vendemos tus datos.

Estudiar griego bíblico podría dar a entender convicciones religiosas.

SKAdNetwork
